Technical rules for operational safety TRBS 2121

Danger to people from falling

- General requirements -

Preliminary remark
These technical rules for operational safety (TRBS) reflect the state-of-the-art, occupational medicine and hygiene rules and other secure ergonomic findings for the provision and use of work equipment and for the operation of systems that require monitoring. It is determined by the Committee for Industrial Safety and published by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in the Federal Worksheet. The technical rule specifies the Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV) with regard to the determination and assessment of hazards and the derivation of suitable measures. When applying the measures mentioned as an example, the employer can assert the presumption of compliance with the provisions of the Industrial Safety Ordinance. If the employer chooses a different solution, he has to prove the equivalent fulfillment of the regulation in writing.

Fall protection are z. B. covers, railings or side protection that can absorb and divert forces.

B. Reception facilities
If fall protection cannot be used for technical reasons, protective devices for catching workers who fall must be available in their place. Collection facilities are z. B. protective nets, protective walls, protective scaffolding that can absorb and divert forces.

C. Individual hazard protection
If fall protection and fall arrest devices cannot be used, personal protective equipment against falls must be provided. This must comply with DIN EN 363, make another one according to TRBS 1111 (risk assessment) necessary for this individual case and require the user to be instructed accordingly.
